Sometimes the most powerful moments of change come from the most ordinary circumstances. For Ben, founder of Vico Naturals, it was a simple morning routine that sparked a journey to create one of Ireland’s most innovative natural skincare brands – a natural deodorant that works.
Picture this: Ben was getting ready for the day, spraying his regular aerosol deodorant, when his friend asked him not to spray it so close because it was “full of nasty chemicals.” Ben had never heard anything about this before, so he decided to investigate.
What he discovered shocked him. Mainstream deodorants and antiperspirants contain numerous controversial ingredients, and the deodorant industry creates massive environmental impact through plastic waste. Ben started searching for natural alternatives but found it frustrating – most natural deodorants either didn’t work effectively, used plastic packaging, or had strange scents.
That’s when Ben decided to take matters into his own hands.
In January 2021, during Level 5 lockdown, Ben dedicated all his free time to creating a natural deodorant that would tick all the boxes. After an incredible 150+ different formulas, he finally cracked the code – a deodorant that worked brilliantly, smelled amazing, and used completely sustainable packaging.
Today, Vico Naturals operates from Cork, handcrafting every product with a commitment to transparency, sustainability, and community. What started as one person’s search for a better alternative has grown into a beloved Irish brand that puts people and planet first.
